Colonizing Knowledgea

Instructions:
1) DQ1: Read “Colonizing Knowledges” by Prof. Linda Tuhiwai Smith, listen to Dr. Wall Kirmerer podcast, and attend guest speaker Leocadio Juracán presentation.
2. DQ1 should have a minimum of 700 words to a maximum of 900, formatted in APA 7th Edition. Use 12 font, and double space. Use a minimum of ONE peer reviewed academic journal in addition to Maaka and Andersen textbook. the podcast, and if you see convenient, you can add points/themes made by Leocadio’s presentation as references, submitted in Microsoft Word only and submitted in the BrightSpace assignment DQ # 1:
3. Your DQ is an essay style paper. You have several questions that can guide or help you decide the angle you want to write your paper: You can use one, two of the questions below, or combine them all: The questions are:
1) What happended with the knoledge Indigenous Peoples had prior to conquest and colonization?
2) How knowledge became seen as superior to indigenous knowledge?
3) What examples provides either Dr. Smith, Dr. Kirmerer and/or Leocadio on the topic of ‘colonial mentality’? Provide one
4) How was indegenous knowledge able to survive?
5) Do you think Western knowledge can coexist with Indigenous knowedge?
Above you have several questions to choose from to write your first DQ, these are guiding questions, you can also add your own if you prefer.
Your essay DQ has to be written in an essay style with intro, body and conclusion. Please include at least 2 concepts covered in class.
When grading, I check for content, fluidity, clarity, mechanics (grammar, etc.), and the use of your own words. You can cite, quote, but also provide with your own words what do you understand by a specific concept you are using.
