For this writing assignment, you will be writing a draft of an Introduction paragraph for your research essay. Consider using one of the opening lines you wrote in this week’s Discussion Board as your “hook.” Then write 2-3 sentences that lead up to your Thesis Statement. Your paragraphs should be about 4-6 sentences long.
Helpful tips:
Begin your paragraph with your hook – one of the opening strategies (eg., question, startling fact, question, statistic, quotation) discussed in the Module 5 craft lecture.
Conclude your paragraph with a clear thesis statement of what you intend to address in your essay.
Make sure that the middle of your paragraph effectively bridges your opening strategy and your thesis statement.
Avoid going into too much detail about the specifics of your topic. Save these details for the body of your essay.
