Many would say the U.S. incarcerates more people than any nation in the world. In certain communities across the United States, incarceration has been “normalized.” Many would even say the carceral system in America targets mostly people of minority groups. After researching the overall cycle of incarceration in America, are States, law enforcement, prosecutors, and legislators reversing the trend on mass incarceration? What data is being used? Is there a need for a revision of the American carceral system? Is there data that support this? These are some questions to think about while you formulate your own research question based the topic of mass incarceration. This research paper MUST show at least five quantitative and five qualitative data on this topic.
1. Please formulate your own research question based on the topic, with observable implications and a plan of study. Use the first chapter of King, Koehane, and Verba (attached) and the Rich et al textbook (attached) to guide you on that process.
